Letters from 8th Grade Students to the St. Angela Merici Parish Community
January 2020
Dear St. Angela Community,
I value everything about my Catholic education. Coming to a Catholic school has helped me grow in my faith so much. It has helped me become closer to my Lord and my community. Catholic school is such a great experience. I have made so many great bonds and memories being here. Catholic school has definitely changed my life for the better.
What I value most about the St.Angela community is how we are all united and act as a family. In the four marks of the Church St. Angela’s really emphasizes the “One.” Whatever decision I make here I know that someone here is supporting me. Coming to school everyday is like coming to see my second family. I know that I have made some bonds at this school that will last forever.
So many generous people have made sacrifices to make sure I have a good Catholic school experience. My parents have paid my tuition and make sure I get here every day, and make sure I have the fundamentals to strive. My teachers are here to make sure I get the best education I can. The parishioners have also donated so much to make sure we have what we need to be a good school. Thank you to everyone.
Sincerely,
Kaylee

Dear St. Angela Community,
Over the past eleven years, my experiences at St. Angela Merici School have been invaluable. I have been learning about Jesus and my Catholic faith at school since I was in preschool. In 2nd grade, my education focused not only on learning cursive writing and the study of dinosaurs, but also learning how to reconcile and commune with God. As a 6th and 7th grader, I began to learn about service to others along with rigorous academics. In 6th grade, I trained and became an altar server, and in the summer before 7th grade I began to volunteer for Youth Challenge, working with kids with physical disabilities. Both of these experiences have been and continue to be rewarding to me. I am currently preparing for my Confirmation and learning about helping prevent poverty. I truly value my Catholic education and will be blessed to attend a Catholic high school.
I would really like to thank my parents for the sacrifices they made so that they could send me to a Catholic school. With all the money my parents used to send me to St. Angela they could have done a lot for themselves, and I just want to give them thanks. It is very inspiring that my parents gave so much up for me.
Sincerely,
Seamus

Dear Saint Angela Community,
A Catholic education is one of the most unique things a person can experience in a lifetime. What I value most in Catholic education is the hands on service opportunities offered to the students. More specifically, when my class and I went to the Catholic Worker Storefront, St. Malachi’s Backdoor Community, and House of Champions for a field trip to learn about the Catholic outreach agencies in Cleveland. This opened me up to local service opportunities and ways to be Christ to others. The culture of a Catholic school gives me a unique experience because it shows everyone can be Christ to anyone, and we all are united as one.
The Saint Angela community has many qualities to be thankful for. First, they are very supportive of all of the students attending St. Angela’s. Each time my grade attends an 8:30 mass, the parishioners are very excited and joyful to see us participating in this Blessed Sacrament with them. Second, the community has many opportunities for the high school parishioners that still want to continue activities within the Church. This activity, called Youth Of Saint Angela (YOSA), meets every other Sunday at 6:30 and is a night of faith and fun. When I graduate from St. Angela’s, I am happy that our school has YOSA so I can continue being apart of the wonderful faith family. Third, the community does many things for those who need our help. For example, each year on Martin Luther King Junior Day, the parish hosts a stand down where parishioners can make toiletry kits and lunches. Also, around Christmastime, my mother and I made cookies for the homebound and shut ins.
Finally, I would like to thank the parishioners for giving me the opportunity to attend this Catholic school. The donations collected each week help the school out a lot. By donating, the school can help me learn new things, provide school lunches, and have extracurricular activities like drama club, ski club, and basketball. To receive any education is a blessing, but to receive a Catholic education and be apart of another family is like a dream come true. For my parents to enroll me at Saint Angela’s is a blessing because I feel safe and secure at school, and also because of how many kind people there are here and how the staff treats everyone with respect and really does care about all of us students. Few things in my life are a better blessing than attending a Catholic school like Saint Angela’s.
Sincerely,
Erin

Dear Saint Angela Merici Community,
The walls of St. Angela’s have been here for almost one-hundred years, and they would not be here without you. I would like to thank you for all of the sacrifices you make to keep this school running and for making it what it is today. A Catholic education is a very important thing to have, and I hope that my work here will show that.
Catholic education is something that many people take for granted and simply don’t take time to think about because it is expensive. Catholic education is important because it gives students like me the chance to grow in our faith within our own classroom. I learn to live as a disciple and I can treat others with the respect they deserve. This is an experience that is seen in not many other places and is something very special.
The Saint Angela community is a wonderful group that looks out for each other and takes care of its own. I personally value the feeling of family among this community. It is a comforting sense that everyone loves each other and we can all trust in God to lead the way. We are all together as one, and it is a great way to build relationships in a school setting.
I want to thank you again for all you do to help Saint Angela’s and their mission to teach and serve others. Thank you for reading and have a great day.
Sincerely,
Will
